How to use our Peggy Peg Fix&Go Anchor Plate 2.0 and what makes it so special?

Wie verwendet man unsere Peggy Peg Fix&Go Ankerplatte 2.0 und was macht sie so besonders?

In this blog post, we would like to introduce you to our Fix&Go Anchor Plate 2.0.
Throughout, you will understand what makes this plate so unique.

First of all, it might be quite interesting to know the background of the name Fix&Go 2.0
Why 2.0? Well, because it's already the 2nd version of an anchor plate, we bring it to the market.
The anchor plate 2.0 is an upgrade from our old anchor plate!
With this upgrade, we are incredibly proud of its handy features! The Fix&Go anchor plate is called that way because it literally gives the camper the ability to quickly attach (Fix) or detach their awning (& Go) within no time.

But why do you even need an anchor plate?

Generally, the awning manufacturer recommends fixing the awning poles:
Typically there are three situations

  1. Not fixing your awning at all - However, a broken awning is a lot more expensive than investing in a reliable solution to fix it properly.
  2. Not securing the awning poles, but securing the awning solely with a storm strap. Here the awning pole can still fold away and risks damaging the vehicle or awning.
  3. Using regular tent pegs. However, the wind easily pulls out regular pegs, even if the peg was hammered in at a certain angle. By hammering regular tent pegs, you risk bending/damaging your awning pole since there is hardly any space to work around it.
  4. A screw, on the other hand, can withstand a pulling force.

Which problems could we identify and wanted to solve to enhance your camping experience?
1.The holes of an awning leg are too small for screw pegs.
2. The awning leg can't be enlarged by the manufacturer either; otherwise, it wouldn't fit into the cassette anymore.
The idea of the anchor plate was born! The foot was clamped between two plates like a sandwich with the old anchor plate and secured to the ground with our Peggy Pegs.
BUT: Every camper knows it; you sleep or leave the campsite with the awning up, and a sudden change in weather looms. You turn back or wake up and want to retract your awning as quickly as possible, so it doesn't get damaged.

Imagine you attached your awning using common tent pegs. To detach the awning, you would first have to pull out every tent peg.
Sometimes, however, it can be nearly impossible to loosen them again as they bend and get stuck in the ground. Understandably, this can get quite annoying!!

Imagine you use the old version of our anchor plate. To detach the awning, you would first have to unscrew all of our pegs as well. Even though it might be much easier and faster, it was still not quite the perfect solution. Since unscrewing should not take too long in this situation, you (as our customers) brought this problem to our attention, and we reacted…

… The idea to the Fix&Go Anchor Plate 2.0 was born!
We listened to your demand and developed our clever Fix&Go system. It is now possible for you to retract your awning within no time without having to loosen A SINGLE peg!! Amazing, isn't it?

Here's how it works:

1. You open the sliders, insert the awning pole and lock the sliders again.
Now the awning pole is secured in the plate, and your awning cannot sink, lift-off or slide to the side.
2. Screw the Fix&Go Anchor plate 2.0 to the ground with our Peggy Pegs.
3. With sudden weather changes looming, simply open the sliders, pull out the awning pole and retract the awning within seconds.
The Fix&Go Anchor plate 2.0 stays attached to the ground, and you will not have to unscrew any of our pegs.
4. Next morning or when the storm passed, simply set up your awning again into the original set up by securing the awning legs back into the anchor plate.

We always recommend a selection of screw pegs to attach the Fix&Go Anchor plate 2.0; depending on the varying ground conditions, you must determine which peg will suit best.

The Peg&Stop with lock nut was specially designed for this plate to secure it to the ground by applying pressure via the lock nut. Similar to our Standard (N) peg, the Peg&Stop will also cover up to 90% of varying soil conditions.
For extremely hard or rocky soils, we recommend using our Hardcore pegs. The peg is driven in with a hammer and screwed out. If the peg grips but is not yet completely all the way in, you can work with the blue hook and the height adjustability system.
Our pegs have to go all the way home. To get more detailed information about the height-adjustability system, please have a look at our last video, 'How to use our Peggy Pegs?'
For sandy and soft soils, we recommend using the (L)ong peg. The L peg can be screwed through the open hole in the middle, and with this peg, you can also work with the height adjustment.
We advise securing the plate with a minimum of 3 pegs; however just as needed and depending on the ground conditions, you may use more.

The benefits of its design:

1. We designed the plate so that it can be used for the most common types of awnings on the market. (Fiama, Omnistor, Thule, Dometic, tent poles etc.)
2. Instead of 2 very close attachment points of a regular awning foot, with our Fix&Go Anchor plate 2.0, you now have between 3-6 points for securing your awning using our Peggy Pegs. This distributes the tension load over a larger surface area.
3. Instead of an awning leg fixation, the anchor plate can also be used as storm protection in combination with the u-shaped steel hook.
Simply attach your storm strap or Peggy Peg TieStrap to the hook.
Again, instead of just one securing point as tension distribution, it will provide you with several points to secure and distribute the tension load.

The Fix&Go Anchor plate comes single packed - but is also available in our Fix&Go Awning Set with a selection of screw-in pegs. It is single packaged because there are wider awnings with more than just two awning poles available on the market.
